Classic Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

 

Prep: 20 minutes; Cook: 10 minutes; Servings: 42 cookies



Ingredients:


2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels (12-ounce package)
1 cup chopped nuts (such as pecans)


Instructions:


1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.


 
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.


3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.


4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.


5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.


6. Stir in the chocolate morsels and chopped nuts until evenly distributed throughout the dough.


7. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.


8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.


Notes:

If omitting the nuts, add an additional 2 tablespoons of flour to the dough.
For slightly larger cookies, make heaping tablespoons of dough and bake for 11 minutes.
Store leftover cookies in a sealed container or freeze them for extended freshness.
